Injection mold: the core tool of the modern manufacturing industry

2024-6-5 8:39:41

Injection mold undoubtedly plays an important role in modern manufacturing industry. As the key equipment of plastic injection molding, it strongly supports the production of various plastic products with its high efficiency, precision and automation.

1. Definition and Working Principle of Injection Mold

A special tool for manufacturing plastic products by injection molding process. Its working principle is to inject molten plastic material into the mold cavity under high pressure, and form the required plastic products after cooling and solidification. In this process, the precision and stability of the mold have a decisive influence on the quality of the product.

2. Features and Advantages of Injection Mold

Injection molding has the remarkable characteristics of fast production speed, high efficiency and high degree of automation. First of all, through the injection molding process, fast and large-scale production can be achieved to meet the huge market demand for plastic products. Second, the operation can be highly automated, reducing manual intervention and lowering production costs. In addition, it can produce plastic products with complex shapes and precise dimensions, which are suitable for various complex molding and processing fields.

3. Structure and Composition of Injection Mold

Injection mold is mainly composed of mold parts, casting system, guide parts, ejection mechanism, temperature control system and exhaust system. Among them, the mold parts are the core part of the mold, which directly determines the shape and size of the product. The pouring system is responsible for introducing the molten plastic from the nozzle of the injection machine into the mold cavity. The guide parts ensure that the mold can be accurately adjusted when the mold is closed. The ejection mechanism is responsible for ejecting the product from the cavity after the mold is parted. The temperature control system is used to adjust the temperature of the mold to meet the requirements of the injection molding process. The exhaust system is used to remove the gas during the molding process.

4. Classification of injection mold

According to different structures and functions, it can be divided into many types. For example, single parting surface injection molds, double parting surface injection molds, side parting and core pulling injection molds, automatic thread removal injection molds, and runnerless injection molds. Each type of mold has its own unique characteristics and applications. You can select the appropriate mold type according to specific product requirements.

5. Use and Maintenance of Injection Molds

When using the mold, pay attention to the following points. First, select appropriate molding equipment and process conditions to ensure normal use of the mold and extend its service life. Second, after the mold is installed on the injection machine, an empty mold operation inspection should be carried out to observe whether the operation of each part is flexible and whether there are any abnormal phenomena. At the same time, the normal temperature range of the mold should be maintained to prevent product quality and mold life from being affected by excessively high or low temperatures. In addition, the residual product and other foreign matter in the mold cavity should be cleaned regularly to prevent damage to the mold.

To keep the mold in good condition and extend its life, certain maintenance procedures must be followed. For example, periodically scrub the mold parts and increase lubrication to reduce wear and resistance; check and tighten the mold fasteners to prevent them from loosening and falling off; regularly maintain and overhaul the mold and replace severely worn parts in a timely manner.

In short, injection molds, as the core tools of modern manufacturing, play an irreplaceable role in the production of plastic products. By understanding and mastering the principles, characteristics, structure, classification, use and maintenance methods, this tool can be better used to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, ensure product quality and promote the development of the manufacturing industry.
